Playjar is a place to find a free browser game and play it. That's most of what we do. The games here run in any modern browser, work on phones and laptops, and don't ask for an account before you can start.
We don't aim to be the biggest catalog on the internet. There are sites with ten thousand games. Most of those games are duplicates of duplicates of cookie clickers and bubble shooters. We list about a hundred titles at a time, picked by hand, organized so you can find a racing game when you want a racing game.
How we pick
A game has to clear three bars to be listed here:
- It loads quickly. If it takes more than ten seconds to boot, it doesn't make the cut. Most casual players close the tab before that.
- It works on a phone. Even if it's primarily a desktop title, the touch controls have to be usable.
- It's actually fun. We played it. If we'd rather not play it again, we don't list it.
The third bar is the one that matters most, and also the one that takes the longest. It's why our catalog is small. Adding a game takes minutes; saying yes to one is a decision.
What it costs you
Nothing. Playjar shows ads from Google AdSense, which pays for the hosting and the time we spend curating. Games inside iframes from our content partners may also show their own ads — that's how they keep their games free. Beyond that, there's no premium tier, no locked content, no email capture wall.
